[Update] Just Saying - Quick Thoughts about Tae

To say I was grossly uninformed would be understatement. I'm sorry.

If you want to continue reading, those are my thoughts from a couple days ago. I thought these people were merely wayward fans, lost in their path. But I realized now people have been working hard to clean up the trash, while I just brushed it under the rug. Taking responsibility for my words, I'll post this explanation I found from Instagram. Reading this enlightened me and may enlighten you.

This is the thought I wanted to write last night about Tae being chased at the airport.

In conclusion, I really don't like calling these people "saesangs". If you want to, go ahead but this is my thought process...

What do you do when someone in your family acts out?
There are plenty of things you could do:

The "Not Nice" Things
  • Ignore them
  • Berate them
  • Tease them to death/ridicule
  • Point out all of their faults/insecurities to try and trigger them to change
  • Yell at them
  • Deny their feelings/apathy
  • Shame them
  • Judge them
  • Belittle them
  • Disrespect Them
The "Too Nice" Things
  • Show them unconditionally love
  • Set unrealistic expectations and believe that they could do no wrong
  • Shower them with excessive praise and denial that there may be a problem
I know that many worse things have happened before to BTS and although we can't control what people will do in the future, we can show these kids from now on what's right from wrong. Ok, so BTS is more popular now than they've ever been, if we ignore this and say "it's just fan culture", or "don't spread them because that's what they want", I'd like to say that these kids aren't Trump. They can be shown the facts and can see that harassing BTS or any artist is wrong and hurts that people they say they love so much.

I didn't want to say it, but we can teach younger or newer Armys to not exo-l or Justin Bieber them. Armys aren't perfect, but we love each boys enough to respect their bodies, minds, and souls. I'd like to think we are better than this.

Plenty of annoying, scary, and stupid things have happened and will continue to happen. People have apologized, taken responsibility, and hopefully have learned from their mistakes. That's all that was and should be needed.

Let's revel in our successes, now.

I am proud of Hawaiian Armys. They were so chill. They posted only when the boys left the premises so that no unwanted visitors could show up and updated our thirsty asses on what the boys were doing from FAR AWAY.

South American Armys were so happy to have BTS in their countries. Their fan tributes were so admirable that it became a staple for the whole tour (i.e. Namjoon we love you!). Remember what Mexican Armys did.

American Armies provided 5 consecutive sold out shows while BTS give us exceptional performance, beautiful fancams, and treasured pictures. For five shows across the US, we successfully pulled off a rainbow ocean. And fought to keep BTS safe. And got them nominated for a freakin' BillBoard Award. And got the most amazing interviews ever. Like, what?

I hope the tours in the upcoming countries are just as courteous and lovely as BTS.

Tips to Remember:

For BTS:
  • Give the boys space if you ever see them (you lucky s.o.b).
  • If you really want to share, share after you know the boys leave.
  • Respect their personal lives and their relationships.
  • Control your feels. They're happy to see an Army, not your phone camera.
For Army:
  • Be prepared and take care of your fellow Army brother and sister.
  • Check each other to make sure you're all on the same page and wildin out.
  • Jealously is allowed but let's face it, it's not cute.
  • Be genuinely happy when BTS has blessed them in any shape or form.
  • And may our fandom continue to be a shield for BTS, because they are our armor against the world.

I'm sure some of you guys could see where I was coming from, even if you don't agree with me fundamentally.

Thank you for reading.
