Open Letter to FOX: Update on "Sleepy Hollow" Abbie Mills' death.

FOX, you know you were dead wrong for this.

I heard that you guys weren't treating my big sister in my head right. That she actually wanted to leave much before last season. I promise you on this worthless blog that your show next season will be canceled by the end of the first episode. Because NOBODY WILL WATCH THIS REJECT SHOW AGAIN UNLESS YOU BRING THE STAR BACK ON. I mean after we viewers invested our emotions, an hour of our time, to keep you on the air, you take that the one person who made us stay.

I hope you lose a lot of money.
I hope people you need start leaving.
I hope Karma comes back to bite you in the butt.
I hope you realize your mistake and start digging your graves so you can throw yourselves in.

How dare you and be prepared to seek sympathy elsewhere.

Sorry. They made me do it.

Abbie/Nicole, I miss see you on TV.
Please, in your new endeavors, still think about us Sleepy Hollow fans with warmth.
Love, Asma. *tears.

Connections I Made Last Week

So this is a new segment where I'd like to talk about the entertainment connections I made the past week or anytime I make them. For example, you know when you see a actor you recognized from some thing, or you realize to like something, or you're reading something about something you already knew from another source. Things like that.

1. If you guys haven't been watching new "Rush Hour" TV show on CBS, Carter or the actor that plays him, Justin Hires, was in an anti-smoking commercial. My sister and I were watching a YouTube video and the ad came up before the video. We both made such a fangirl gasp. Please watch the show. It's really fun and funny.

2. I was watching the first episode of "Cheese in the Trap" after I finally got what the title meant. Sometimes, I can be a bit dense. But...The lead actress in there, I felt like I knew her from somewhere. After racking my head I hit me. "Memories of the Sword"!!! Her name is Kim Go Eun and she is turning 25 this year. I liked her a lot from that wonderful film (if you haven't seen it, go and come back) and her rusty red hair in the drama. I'm going to watch to rest of the series because I heard the some fans were disappointed by the conclusion and I wanted to check.

*PS. I think I love Seo Kang Joon's character already from the first episode. I even took the time to search up his name. See how much of a fan I am.*

Not what I wanted.

It's already happening. What I didn't want to happen but would have been enviable.

I have seen Somali girls love Asian (mostly Korean) male celebrities so much that Somali boys have condemned Korean entertainment. No!!! They were going to be your role models!!! At least that was what I was hoping for that. Later on in life, after I finish college and learn a little bit more, I wanted start a little something (like an entertainment company). I thought I would have to Asian, Bollywood, and Western actors, singer, and comedians as business and career examples. If a Somali boy or man hears from other men that Koreans are stupid and that Somali women like them better, although that may be true, we can't have them condemn it and write it off. We have to work toward that goal so that people can like us too if we change our image, but reshape our original values as Somali people. I hope Somali men don't become so reckless in comparing themselves to Korean celebrities.

Please, wait for me. It might be a lofty dream but I want there to worldwide recognizable Somali faces with actual marketable talent and I want to do it right - in a way that is modern, Islamic and traditional. If we want to make this happen, we have to do it right.

In the meanwhile, I (aka we) have to learn more about show business, the music and entertainment industry, and publishing.

BEAST's Hyunseung Going Solo

So... I know KPop fans who have loved BEAST may be still reeling from the sudden news that Hyunseung would be leaving the group permanently and that BEAST would be continuing as a 5-person group. I know that to some people, as a recent K-music fan, I probably have no right adding this opinion...but when I first saw this online, I thought, "Good for him."

Before you throw your stones, think about it.

If you have seen Hyunseung's solos: "Ma First" and the Troublemaker duo with Hyuna, he is really good. He has a particular sexy hip-hop style that would be work only if he was solo. He's proven it. People love it. They want to see it.

Also, if you have watched BEAST's SHOWTIME, he always seemed like the odd man out. They loved him all the same, but it felt like they were dragging him along.

BEAST will be fine without him and Hyunseung will be fine without being in BEAST. When he makes new music this time, I'm sure BEAST fans, new and old, will listen and enjoy.

Zootopia: Movie Review

The first thing I wanted to write about Zootopia is that Judy Hopps' eyes are purple. My favorite color!

Ok, now on to the real review. Without spoilers.

I watched Zootopia with my family in the theaters. I eat a cheesy, saucy pizza slice so I was full and happy before the movie started.I was in a great seat, right in the off center, as if I was watching the movie at home, just with a bigger (no, gigantic) screen. The seat even reclined. I was basically laying down the whole movie, giggling.

The Real Review

Disney really made a slam dunk with the movie. The background scenery was so detailed and resembled almost every architectural design from their respective climates. I actually felt a little sad because after a while, I wanted to live there in Zootopia, The animation style, even though I normally don't like it for other movies featuring humans, made the characters come alive. Every movement, every gesture, every facial expression was so real. I was impressed by the studio's work.

As a person who strives to achieve dreams people think are unrealistic, I could learn a lot from Judy. Despite backhanded comments and being put down, Judy saw the better of her situation and always did her best. She saw her opportunities and spoke up to take them. That way, she gained the trust of her team and friends along the way.

Personally, I laughed a lot, thanks to the great puns and interactions between the characters (animals?). Some of my favorite scenes are Naturalist Club and the Sloth DMV. If you think about it, that is some serious and well-deserved disrespect to the DMV. It was great. The blossoming friendship between Judy and Nick was cute and platonic(!). Nick's story about what made him the way he is caused wells of tears in my eyes. His ending was so fulfilling as someone who would love to help a friend do well in life. The plot itself really took me on a journey. You thought something was going to end one way but then it totally went left in a better way.

A happy beginning to a great dram-com with no loose ends to the completed story. You know with Disney we will be seeing more of Judy and Nick in the future. Can't wait.

*If you guys ever watch the movie after this, came back and look at Image #2 and see how many characters to can find from the movie. Some character really tiny.

Ok, enjoy this wonderful film and your day.

So many puns. See how many others you can find.

10 Fave Gag Concert Skits

I have been watching Gag Concert on KBS World TV regularly now. Thank God for subtitles that come on time. I have cried laughing, basically bruising my cheeks, revisiting old skits. I like seeing how my favorite ongoing skits land with the audience, too. I've learned about some famous Korean comedians from this show and while I've been watching other talk shows on KBS's channel. I would like to recommend them to you through playlists I've curated with my new YouTube channels. I won't add more videos to the ongoing skits and their playlists. I'll give you taste from their beginning to their most recent skits and then you can keep up to date by yourself. (he he, evil smile).

*Follow and subscribe to qualitywithoutilmo for more YouTube playlists in the future. Because AsmaThEnthusiast is private. Also follow KBS World TV if you want to keep up with Gag Concert, too.

ENJOY!!!

Completed Skits

1. "Say it! Yes or no!"
A skit loosely based on Zico's song "Say it! Yes or No!", but involves the audience's participation. If they agree they experienced some everyday occurrence similarly, they hold a thumps up for "yes". If the crowd disagrees with the experience, they hold a thumps down for "no". All to prove that South Koreans share the same thoughts. The reason why I like this skit is because I learned a lot about how Korean adults grew up and function in the world today. I agreed with them a lot about experiences at school. The skit goes through a lot of changes and becomes awkward at times but the group (Kim Ki Ri, Seo Tae Hun, Hong Hyun Ho) worked well together.

2. "Dating Secretly"
A skit about a rookie detective (Park Bomi) who applies to the violent crimes division to be with her boyfriend, the head detective (Kim Kiyul). As a work relationship, they must hid their involvement. But how can they, with nosy coworkers and misunderstandings? This skit has great one-liners, cute exchanges between the two love-birds, and close-calls. Near the end of the series, the writes find their rhythm. It's predictable but still knocks you off your chair.

3. "Comedian's World"
In South Korea, there are three types of comedians or gag-men: the beautiful ones (Ryu Geun Ji and Park Sora), the overweight ones (Song Young Gil and Kim Min Kyung), and the average-looking ones (Kim Jae Wook and Heo Min). The handsome and pretty comedians made weird noises, the big comedians take whatever the attractive comedians did and make it better, then the average comedians try way too hard to top them. The order changes sometimes but I like it the way it's supposed to be originally.

4. "Four Men"
"Why in the cruel dating world do South Korean women hate unpopular men, unsophisticated (aka country) men, short men, and fat men?" That is basically the tagline for this skit. Four types of men who make their cases on why women shouldn't misunderstand for their qualities. As a bonus, there is a fifth man, a bald comedian (Lee Won Gu), that women hate to date. Later on the series, if the audience didn't find a particular type's jokes funny, he comes to save the skit. I thought the country type (Yang Sang Guk) and the short type (Heo Kyung Hwan) were the best. The unpopular type (Kim Kiyul) got a bit cringe-worthy and the fat type (Kim Joon Hyun) generally screamed at you for being insensitive.

Ongoing Skits

5. "Explosive Situation"
Ever wonder what happens at the border of North and South Korea? It's a morbid reality but as a skit, hilarity ensues. An uptight North Korean border control general (Yang Sang Guk), a laid-back border control general who always pushes the North Korean's buttons (Kim Kiyul), and a UN officer (Yang Sun Il) is always in between just in case a nuclear war happens. Hilarious, political, and edgy, it's a fun watch.

6. "Manly Men"
A skit about how men (Seo Tae Hun and Kim Kiyul) handle break-ups. Thing is: they still can't get over it. My favorite parts are when the pity song come on and when the middle-age man (Jung Seung Hwan) who lost a love remembers her name and asks questions to the universe. "Do you miss me?! Do you care I'm alive?!" That kind of thing. In the end, the man (Jung Myung Hoon) who seems to end every relationship over money is the manliest man.

7. "301 302"
A young man (Jung Seung Hwan) moves next door to a young woman (Kim Min Kyung). The young woman starts to believe the young man wants to get to know her. The young man starts to notice strange things about the young woman and his living situation. Her persistence is cute and his comments are hilarious. The landlady (Jung Jimin) tries to set the two up, but imagine after all the young man goes through in a day, he wants to move.

8. "She Was Pretty"
A twist in a typical tale of a man trying to confess to a pretty girl (Heo Min), a man (Ahn Il Gwon) actually tries to confess to her average-looking friend (Oh Nami). Expect he can't tell her directly. He's mean and when she can't take it anymore, he saves the day with cheap, finger-curling lover's comments. It's great.

9. "Veteran"
As veteran comedians, you should be able to make any skit funny. Even if the sound director for your skit gets into an accident and the intern has to play the sounds. The inexperienced intern play the sounds but at the wrong times and the wrong sounds at the right times. The youngest comedian of this three, Shim Moon Gyu, has a beautiful "help me out" face ever, Kim Hwe Kyung has a beautiful "I don't know what's happening" face, and Im Jong Hyuk has a beautiful "oops" face.

10. "Catchphrase Makers"
As a way to apologize for not creating any memorable catchphrases in a while, the comedians (Park Sung Kwang, Park Bomi, Yang Sun Il, Ryu Geun Ji, Jang Yoo Hwan) came up with the idea of making catchphrases for each member and incorporate it into the skit. To be honest, you kind of also want to be in the audience so that you can say the phrase along with them. But it can also be done awkwardly in front of your computer or during everyday life. "Ok Ok Okinawa!"

Bonus Skits I Recommend For Further Giggles

a. "Cooking Goya" - innuendos galore. btw: I love innuendos.
b. "Dignity of a Beggar" - Heo Kyung Hwan not being attractive.
c. "I'm The Only One" - tension between the genders no matter how unwanted will always be funny to me.
d. "The King of Ratings" - human nature explained.

Songs/Groups I've gotten into recently #4

This is a segment where I talk about all of the music I've been listening too for the past month and recommend them to you. I've been listening to a lot of KPop and have been discovering some old and new music.

It may be long, but here goes.

LEE HI
A solo artist under YG Entertainment, I found that I really enjoyed her voice after listening to her sophomore album. She may be young but her voice seems as mature as an artist twice her age. "Breathe" make me cry still, thinking about the lyrics and "Hold my hand" is delivered so perfectly. When I'm in the mood, I want to listen to her debut album.
I love the cover art.
MAMAMOO
I love them. They sing like angels. They all are really talented in entertaining their fans. They are as mischievous as I want to be with girl friends. I hope they continue to impress more people with their vocal talents and antics.

DΞΔN
Finally, we got to see the mysterious Dean talk. He is so fluffy and squishy, but let him open his mouth with a sultry beat and let me see how conflicted you are. Maybe you're not as conflicted as I am. From his debut mini album, I love listening to "D (Half Moon)" and "21", because to me, those show his creative personality more.

Boys Republic
Their vocal talent expanded more than my expectations on this album in creating a richer R&B sound and dynamic beats. I appreciate all the hard work they showed. I've already stated how much the interaction between One Junn and Suwoong during the climax of the "Get Down "choreography gets me and that's it.

Is it getting hot all of a sudden? - gif by me using Imgur
CNBLUE
So I go into the band, CNBLUE, and already my bias list was ruined. Other than that, I can see why people called them the Korean Maroon 5 because Yonghwa has an Adan Levine in him. Just look at his eyes when he sings. Being under the same company as FTISLAND, right now I prefer them because I like their pop-alternative style. They did a good job with BLUEMING, their new mini album. It's hard to find an album where all of the songs can be listen to sequentially. I haven't listened to their 1st full album, besides "Cinderella", but when I get in the mood for it, I will.

DAY6
I just want to thank the universe to letting me immerse himself in this band. I have been repeating both of their mini albums all week. The songs I've loved the most are off the new album, "Blood" and "Hunt", two different concepts but with the same addictive quality about them.

Block B
Have people fully recognized the genius that is Zico yet? Not only did he raise awareness for his group members by doing his solo works but he lets himself take the backseat, displaying his groups' strengths once again while creating distinguishable music. Taeil, thank you for gifting us with your high notes. Also, I love how Park Kyung has been feeling himself more often lately but sir, take a seat. My heart can only take so much. I hear a lot in KPop communities how some things should be illegal, but now I get it. "Bingle Bingle" should absolutely be arrested. There is no reason why I should be dancing at 2 AM. Only Block B and Dean could do that. And lastly, an insight into a genius's work: the instrumental of the title track.

BTOB
I only got into "You're So Fly", so I'm not an expert fan yet. Again I have to be the right experimental mood to check out new music. All I've learned is that Sungjae should be the leader instead of the maknae. Ilhoon is cute but doesn't like to be associated with being cute. Changsub gets no love. Eunkwang tries too hard to be funny. Hyunsik has a B.E.U.tiful smile. That's it.

HISTORY
This is just another example of how ONE SONG!!! can change a group and my entire life. Just like how VIXX and UNIQ happened to me with "Chained Up" and "EOEO". Boy, have I been sleeping on them. But I am on the Historia train now. "Queen" is fire and so gorgeous, and I want to see a dance practice soon. Please enjoy this superb comeback.

NCT U
SM Entertainment is doing revolutionary things that I don't understand yet, but I appreciate the material they are presenting me and they are getting that money. I didn't think SM would release a performance video for "Open Your Eyes" but thankfully they did. The dance was amazing. It made me want to dance along. AND... I have chosen my bias but I also have to say these are children. They are only getting younger. *sighs*. I have my eye on Doyoung and Taeyong. I can't wait to see more of them and their other units on their new debut reality show.

Bonus: I know this may be an unpopular suggestion, but I love the new song "Team" from Iggy Azalea and especially the dance performance video. Check it out.

Sleepy Hollow Season 3 Finale - Unbiased Rant

What a blow. First American Idol, now Sleepy Hollow. All while a stupid show about two brothers who die and come back to life every 5 secs is still on the air after 12 effing years! You know who you are. Argh! Can't one decent black woman stay on the air without fearing repercussions? #RIPAbby I understand Nicole in wanting to explore new opportunities. But I feel a bit betrayed. This is same thing that happened with Detective Carter on Person of Interest. I thought Sleepy Hollow would be different. I am seething. I mean, they gave Abby an honorable death. She risked her life to save mankind. In Person of Interest, after everything Carter did for them, she was still shot as if she was bait for the next season. Then Reese spent two full seasons mourning her until she came back to drop some wisdom on him when the day he was being so stupid, her ghost/his brain couldn't take him anymore. I knew the show was losing steam. I knew they were running out of new bad guys to fight. Buy why did Abby have to die? They were running out of ideas so fast in three seasons that they killed off one of best character on TV to date?! And to give Crane such an antiquated storyline is really unfair to his character. They could have gone to England. They could have done more things with the Free Masons and even the Knights Templar. Right now, I really truly don't give a monkey about the "new" witness. I wanted to know why the FBI told Reynolds to keep an eye on Abby and if he told them anything. They could have followed that while Abby was in the box. Or they could have ended the show if it was so hard for them. I might seem insensitive, but writing in anger after this repeated excuse when literally the only fantasy shows that are on network TV right now are "Once Upon a Time" and "Supernatural". And only one of them is watchable!!! That's it.

*replace with a bad four-letter word.

Asma's Dairy Throw Up #7

For people who don't know, Asma's Dairy Throw Up is a post where I spit out all of the entertainment, media opinions, personal, etc, micro-thoughts I go through in a day or week. Ready? There was a lot of things that happened this week.

Here goes.

1. I listened to DAY6 (finally!!!) and they reminded me how much I missed rock bands. While I listened to both of their albums, I realized that my music selections recently have been really screwed. My main genre of music has always been rock and alternative, even though I've always loved rap, hip-hip, and r&b. But for the past two years I have been really into everything but rock. I'm not complaining. I've found some really awesome awesome artists that I still follow. It just made me think about rock in a sentimental, loving way again.

2. Beyoncé's protégés Chloe x Halle debuted Apr 5th under her production company with Tidal. I honestly felt like I was watching a new genre emerge. I can't wait to see and hear more.

3. One word. UP10TION. WHO IS HERE TO SLAY MY LIFE.  These pictures are like torture. Look at this ish. They are serving face, smiles, killer stares, open-tooth grins, everything that I can't fathom right now, because I just don't know what to do right now. Go watch their teaser. They are coming back and I am ready. *LOOK AT WEI!!! Seriously!!! His eyebrows are not real!!! GoD!!!

4. I watched UNIQ's performance video today. I'm glad they fixed Yibo repeating the n-word in the song. Sungjoo, please stop. They have been preparing so hard to show us something great. Ladies, this mess will only be 100X during their comeback. Again, I'm ready.

5. I have been getting strong feelings for MAMAMOO. Their voices are like if someone you were crushing on dripped honey on your ears. I don't have a fave/bias member yet, but I like each girl individually. They're cute, loud, funny, talented, gorgeous, and happy.

6. I saw in a YouTube comment under CNBLUE's music video that they thought the band was like Korean version of Maroon 5. The more I listen to CNBLUE, the more I start to think that might be true. Then I began to think about who else I could say reminded me of American singers. It hit me. Dean was the Korean Miguel. Bam. FYI, Dean is ruling repeat for me right now.

7. You know American Idol produced so many great people. I want to list the names of people who emerged for Idol whose debut I've loved one day. Listen. I watched American Idol Finale from one reason and one reason only. To check if the people of America would give La'Porsha her rightful title. But of course, America can't seem to see greatness even though it was screaming at them in the face. VOTE FOR LA'PORSHA!!! But even I who hasn't voted ever in the history of American Idol should not be allowed to complain. I can't wait for Mackenzie and La'Porsha's albums. I will wait and please my eardrums.

8. I love "Rush Hour" the TV show. I love them. I don't care what anybody says. Please let it stay on. Please love it. Writers, please write the show well. I'm not kidding. I will watch this show. Don't give me a reason not to.
9. I'm a little annoyed by music shows. They keep blocking my favorite scene in Boy's Republic choreography for "Get Down". #sigh. BTW, Minsu and Suwoong on 1teK's Let's Dance "Get Down" were so cute.

10. Block B just (literally just) released their teaser pictures for their next single "Toy" music video.

Good Night. Find me April 11th.

My Short Fan Letter to SRK

I watched Shah Rukh khan answer people's fan letters as promotion for his new film "FAN". Get it? Even though, I didn't know about this or probably wouldn't have had the time to send a letter to him to read. But as I was watching, I kind of got jealous... only because those fans had their letter read by the man himself. I just imagine that their bodies would have felt like the wind was knocked out them. Therefore, even though SRK probably will never read it, I wanted to write my first fan letter to him.

Here goes:

Dear Mr. Khan,

The year I was born was when you shot into super stardom. You were the first celebrity who left such a strong impression in my mind that as I grow up, moving from Pakistan to America, I still remembered you. I have seen almost every film you made and been in, memorizing the lyrics to the songs you performed, even the sad ones. I still laugh at the jokes like it's my first time watching. You are my favorite actor in the world. My sister appreciates you just as much as I do but sadly I have driven my brother to curse your name. Watching you go through your successes and failures in the entertainment industry has also taught me a lot about how to capture the audience's attention, story points and where to place humor, and most importantly, how to carry yourself in public. Thank you for making yourself an example for younger actors can look up to. I hope to meet you one day and give you something like a film I made or a novel I wrote. I wish you great success with your new movie "FAN" and with all of the projects you will produce in the future.

Love, your biggest Somali fan,

Asma.

Female Artists I Admire and Follow

I know that I have written all about men since I've started this blog. Even though I am a woman, I tend to think like this as I am attracted to men and my bias naturally goes to them, like Avril Lavigne says. But... whenever these ladies release something new I must to check it out. I may be a little stubborn and ignore it because I love my boys so much. Eventually I will listen to it and judge myself very harshly later for not listening to them earlier.

1. Hayley Williams, Lead Songstress of Paramore

I loved Hayley since middle school, when "Misery Business". She used be my muse. I collected all of her and Paramore's photoshoots. I identified with because she was petite (5'0"+) like me and thought very deeply about the message she puts out in her songs.  Paramore's albums and her voice has gotten me through a lot of mood springs during puberty and beyond. She is working on new music. If it takes two years to come out, I will sit patiently and wait for a well-produced album.

An Open Letter to VEVO

Dear VEVO,

I love music. I especially love new music. I also love creating playlists, a great feature, to keep track off all of new discoveries. I have discovered many a new artist on VEVO and also went back in time to visit older artists' music videos. But since your last update incorporating new endless scrolling and fave artist collecting, which is cool and all. However I haven't used the app again since this change, because it's uncomfortable to use. Is there a way you can keep this clean crisp presentation, while using the old format of listing the genres, new music videos, and fresher artists? I just feel like I've been out of the loop recently keeping up with music videos and new faces. Please consider this when you make your next update.

Thank you.
